Staff Accountant

About the Role

 The Staff Accountant will assist in day to day accounting operations, including general ledger responsibilities, balance sheet reconciliations, and other needed areas.  Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working closely with all accounting team members, this position will provide key data and reporting for financial decision-making.

This is a hybrid position (a combination of remote / and our Petaluma office).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries as required
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assist in the monthly close process, including balance sheet reconciliations, and other key monthly close tasks
  • Perform inventory item maintenance
  • Prepare accurate producer payroll reports in a timely manner in accordance with the Federal Milk Marketing Order (FMMO) due dates
  • Reconcile and prepare invoices for bulk milk customers
  • Assist in developing, modifying and executing company accounting policies
  • Assist in streamlining the month end reporting and processes; Continued development of closing checklists, month end reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Prepare annual schedules for external auditors and provide required information for testing and assistance
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis

What You Bring to the Team

  • BA in business, finance, accounting or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in accounting, preferably in manufacturing
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, Excel skills
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Auditing experience is very desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including the application of general accounting theories
  • Strong technical computer ability to research and retrieve financial data from Clover’s computer systems and other resources to produce various financial reports including spreadsheets, analyses, and account reconciliations
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and accurately gather and analyze information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and the ability to make timely decisions. Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to successfully plan and prioritize planned work activities and develop realistic action plans; Efficient time management skills
  • Actively promote and personally observe safety and security procedures, and use equipment and materials properly
