Clover Celebrates a Mooooving Finish

Every year in October, men and women from across the nation gather in San Francisco to participate in the annual Nike Women’s Marathon. Touted as the largest woman’s marathon in the world, this year’s race attracted over 20,000 participants who came to test their metal on the challenging 13.1 mile half-marathon or 26.2 mile full marathon courses. To make matters more exciting, the 2013 run was the 10th anniversary of this popular event.

Runners started the race in the hub of downtown San Francisco’s Union Square, and followed the picturesque course through the financial district to the bay, then continued along the marina past iconic landmarks like Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, and Fort Mason. Climbing uphill, runners circled the Presidio and Sea Cliff districts to Golden Gate Park before looping along the Great Highway to the finish line at Ocean Beach.

Clover was proud to partner with Whole Foods Market to hand out over 30,000 complimentary half-pint containers of Clover Stornetta chocolate milk as runners crossed the half-marathon finish line. The weary athletes gladly downed this delicious beverage, which offered the perfect blend of protein and sugar to help them recover after the strenuous race.
