Cowmunity Corner: Butter & Egg Days Parade 2016

Tradition is a big part of our Clover legacy, and the annual Petaluma Butter & Egg Days Festival each April is no exception. This nostalgic hometown event never fails to attract huge local crowds that turn out to celebrate Petaluma’s rich agricultural heritage. Now in its thirty-fifth year, Butter & Egg Days is a great place to pull up a chair and people watch. There are adorable costumed kids vying for the title of “Cutest Little Chick” and ladies sporting elaborately decorated bonnets. You might even catch a glimpse of Darth Vader posing for photos with Miss Sonoma County!
But the parade is what everyone comes to see. Downtown Petaluma was packed with spectators last Saturday who staked out their spots along the parade route to cheer on the 100+ floats and marching bands in attendance. This year’s theme, “All Aboard! Next Stop Petaluma!” was a tribute to the arrival of the new SMART Train in 2016, and Clover pulled out all the stops with our specially designed LoCloMotion float. Grooving to the memorable 60’s pop anthem by Little Eva, the Clover railway chugged down the street with a herd of children & adults in tow.  As always, our beloved mascot Clo was front and center wearing her engineer cowstume.

After the parade, people flocked downtown to enjoy four city blocks filled with arts & crafts, food vendors, community & non-profit booths, and special activities for kids. In the center of it all, the Clover “LoClomotion”station was busy handing out free pints of Clover Chocolate Milk and Greek Yogurt to event goers.

A lot of Clover milk was chug, chug, chugged that day!

We’re proud of our heritage and traditions like Petaluma Butter & Egg Days that bring the community together to celebrate local agriculture.
