Spring and Earth Day are in the Air!

Hi, All.  Marcus here.  As I was driving into work this crisp Northern California morning I rolled down my window and was greeted by the smell of fresh air and flowers, spring is finally here!  I have often reflected on how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to grow up in Sonoma County, in my opinion one of the most beautiful places in the world.  Here we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by artisan foods, world class wines and graceful rolling hills and pastures.

Much of what enables us to keep this stunning scenery in tact can be attributed to our hard-working dairy farmers.  Without their tireless efforts to keep their farms functional and thriving, along with support from consumers like you, our picturesque backdrops might be filled with track homes and shopping centers.

Along with spring, today we celebrate Earth Day.  It is not an association that is often made, but farmers, like those on our Clover dairies, were some of the first people in history to focus on sustainability.  It just made sense to do so.  Farmers are eco-conscious because they want to preserve the earth they work with for their children and their children’s children.

Not only do Clover dairy farmers focus on sustainability, we here at Clover’s production plant and corporate offices are making strides in reducing our carbon footprint, as well.  We feel it is imperative to act as stewards of our land, protecting it so future generations can enjoy the same artisan foods, magnificent landscapes, clean air and water that we do today.  In fact, Clover Stornetta Farms is one of only 13 companies worldwide to be awarded with the Seal of Sustainability™ recognizing Clover’s leadership in the acceptance and adaptation of sustainable economic, social, and environmental business practice.

Myself and the Clover Team continue to be grateful to our dairy farmers and their efforts.  Additionally, we continue to brainstorm ways we can further our role in sustainable business practices.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today.  Now please get out, enjoy the weather and do you part to support the earth today.  🙂
